Today, the restless longing of the human soul to find a spiritual home, a resting place, a healing ambiance and a hospitable and loving community is still very much relevant and up to date. “God is love”(1 John 4:8 ) and He calls His children to come home and be with Him in a valley of serenity He blessed with a flowing river, adorned with a panorama of colors during the day, a lovely moonlight and flickering thousand stars during the night and artistically carved with His Hands a wonderful place of solitude and beauty like our Pecos Benedictine Monastery. Each soul whom God loves unconditionally and who is invited personally by Him to come for a period of retreat is truly a seeker and a lover of God. As the soul arrives here upon God’s holy mountain, the following scripture passage reverberates with a new and profound spiritual echo…, “Set me as a seal on your heart, as a seal on your arm; For stern as death is love, relentless as the nether world is devotion; its flames are a blazing fire. Deep waters cannot quench love, nor do floods sweep it away. Were one to offer all he owns to purchase love, he would be roundly mocked.” (Song of Songs 8:6B-7)

For more than fifty years the Pecos Benedictine Monastery gladly facilitates a deep experience of God in the silence and the beauty of nature, in the participation with the community prayers and in the spiritual guidance and help provided upon request by the monks and sisters of the monastery. Everybody is welcome to come here to, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10), let go of one’s current life’s stress and anxieties, discern one’s next destination in the life’s journey, renew one’s life of faith and prayer and receive healing from the sickness of one’s mind, body and spirit. Yes, each one from near and far is invited to come and experience the love, goodness and kindness of the Lord over here at Pecos Benedictine

Come – Be received as Christ

Jesus revealed himself as “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” for all people. And yet people today often lose the way, are often confused and uncertain about the truth, and sometimes experience death rather than life. The Pecos Community, through its ministry of retreats and Schools for Spiritual Directors, has been called to help people find Jesus as their way - to find the path for their lives that will lead them to the Kingdom of Heaven. We have also been called to teach the truth of Jesus - the truth that has been handed down in the Church from the apostles. We are likewise committed to helping people experience Jesus as their life - to experience his love, his mercy, his forgiveness, and his healing.
