Oblate Letter:

OBLATE EASTER LETTER

Dear Oblates,
Peace and blessings to you all this Easter Season, and I know this is a late update for the web page…but it has been a little busier than usual here.
We now have a new Superior installed for the monastery, his name is Fr Stephen Coffey and he has come to us from our house in California.  We are very happy to have him here, and there is a very strong sense of peace which has enveloped the monastery after some months of uncertainty.  As you know, Abbot Christopher is now working in the Vatican, and seems to be very happy in his new position.
Well, here we are in Easter after having completed our Lenten journey.  I trust that, for all of you, your Lent was an enriching time and that you were able to enter fully into the great mystery throughout the Triduum, and celebrate with joy the Resurrection of Our Lord.  Our Liturgy this year seemed particularly touched by the Holy Spirit, and we were all moved by the experience.  It was the first time for Fr Stephen to celebrate the Triduum and he did so very well through each day.
Now we have the remaining forty days to continue our celebration of new life in the Lord, as we also celebrate new life in the land.  Spring is slowly making itself known to us here in the valley.  New grass is growing, the buds on the trees are getting bigger, the ducks and birds are back at the pond…and the warmth of the sun can be felt more and more each day.  And, out beautiful blue New Mexico sky.  Fr Paul commented on it just the other day.  It really is quite extraordinary.

I pray that you are all well, and that this Easter Season will bring with it many unexpected blessings.  Thank you for being an Oblate of this monastery, and for your faith and trust in us…and your friendship.

In Christ,        Br Aidan OSB oliv
